ProAgro agriculture constancy said in a statement Ukraine exported 31,400 tonnes of wheat to Israel, 12,800 to Spain, 7,400 to Libya and 5,500 to Algeria.
"It was a temporary fall in exports and about 290,000 tonnes of wheat is due to be exported in the coming weeks," ProAgro said. Ukraine exported a record 816,900 tonne of wheat in September, up 43.8 percent from 568,100 tonnes in August.
Feed wheat dominated exports. North Africa, the Middle East and European states remained the main export directions in September. Ukraine harvested a record 20 million tonne of wheat this year after 17.5 million in 2004 and a meagre 3.6 million in 2003. Agriculture officials have said feed wheat amounted to about 45 percent of the harvest, or more than nine million tonnes.
Ukraine has exported 1.670 million tonnes of wheat in the first three months of the 2005/06 (July-June) season.
The country exported 744,600 tonnes in the same period in 2004/05 and 2.2 million in the record season of 2002/03, when the country flooded the European market with cheap wheat, forcing the EU to set up a feed wheat import quota. Ukraine exported a total of 4.3 million tonnes of wheat in 2004/05 and analysts say the country could export at least five million tonnes this season.
